Our Club holds regular (usually monthly) social activities for members. These activities may be ‘stand-alone’ events or based around the Inbound Journey programme where members are invited to participate.
In addition to the events listed, the club has a monthly coffee morning. These are held at a different Wellington location each month, where members get together informally for a chat and a catch-up. New members often attend these functions and are always very welcome.

3 of us enjoyed the activities and gardens of Tulip Sunday. We finished with a lovely coffee in the Rose Garden and a walk back to the train.
15 members attended this event and dinner afterwards. It was a lovely afternoon and evening . This play was sold old in March.
A good turn out again for this event. This gives people the opportunity to share were they had been and the experiences they had along the way. It was a very pleasant afternoon – unfortunately the hall did not provide heating and we found the middle of winter very cold that day. Afterwards we went to a local bar for dinner and warmth.
This was another beautiful day and the bush of Tane’s track was stunning with many tall beech trees. Ian and Lynnda shared their knowledge of the fauna.
At the suggestion from club members we started a Dinner Club - our 1st dinner was RSA Porirua which 7 attended and enjoyed very much.
10 of us enjoyed a lovely brunch in the sun overlooking the Cook Strait, and the mini golf was competitive and a real laugh.
We were hosting Whangarei Club, so we co-ordinated the social event and the Annual picnic with Kapiti. We went down to the beach end of the Tramway and lunch there. It was a perfect day and everyone enjoyed themselves.
In addition to the events listed, the club has a monthly coffee morning. These are held at a different Wellington location each month and is a time where members get together informally for a chat and a catch up. New members often attend theses functions and are always very welcome.
Come along and hear about the recent exchange to South America
When: Sunday 30th August at 1.30pm
Where: Capital Rodders clubrooms, Onepoto Road, Titahi Bay
Friday 15th May 10 members departed for a weekend in the world famous Art Deco City of Napier. Friday night was hospitality with hosts and a briefing of the programme for the next two days.
Saturday morning saw us assembled at the Art Deco Information Office. We were shown a film on the history of Napier with specific emphases on the earthquake that changed the landscape for ever. We were then taken on a walking tour of the city escorted by a professional guide. This was very enlightening, educational and entertaining.
After the walking tour we were taken on a wider area tour of the city courtesy of the Ford Model A car club. In a fleet of Model As, in convoy, we toured the city in style giving the royal wave to all those who looked wondering who we were! We experienced a great tour taking in the sights, Mission Vineyards and ending at a great restaurant at about 2pm. After an extended late lunch, we were returned to city centre in the Model As where our hosts duly picked us up and returned us to their homes.
That evening we were treated to soup “n” roll at the homes of various Napier members
Sunday morning we assembled at the Chocolate factory. This is a great complex with a museum, chocolate shop, souvenir shop and a café. At 10.30am we were given our instructions! A car rally was to commence. This rally was principally a rural excursion and again very informative. After several hours we arrived at an African themed restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately no one from Wellington won the rally but there was time for speeches and an opportunity to formally thank the Napier club for a splendid weekend. After another extended lunch we were given free time with our hosts.
Monday morning we all departed Napier and returned to Wellington. The weekend was really very successful and we hope that more members will be able to participate in future domestic exchanges.

Manawatu Friendship Force visited us for the weekend. (27-30 March)
We started with just getting to know each other and renewing old acquaintances, lunch and a visit to Te Papa. The Air New Zealand exhibition is fantastic.
Saturday we visited Somes Island, had lunch at Days Bay Pavilion. Everyone went on their own adventures late afternoon. We went to Otari which was delightful. Pot luck dinner was yummy and the charades was a laugh.
Sunday we all went for a stroll along the Wellington Waterfront, to the Cuba Street Festival, up the Cable car to the Botanic Gardens.
Another great day.
Thank you to Manawatu for coming down to stay with us and we hope you have enjoyed your stay. Lynnda Bouzaid
There are some fabulous photos on face book – can’t put them all onto this page!! So please look them up. Thanks Lynnda and Tony for Organising this weekend.
SOCIAL OUTING TO HUTT REPERTORY, 22 MARCH
A great time out with wonderful people from our club. Here we are at half time at Pride and Prejudice by Hutt Repertory - Well done for a wonderful play too. Some of us continued on to a lovely meal at the Ayutthaya, Petone.
On 17 February, we celebrated our 30th anniversary in style with a dinner at Capital Rodders in Titahi Bay. This is a great venue with a balcony right over the water and it was a beautiful balmy evening. Following dinner, well catered by Chalet Caterers, cake cutting and speeches, a very fine local band played popular music.
The evening was planned around the Field Representatives meetings hosted by our club. Because of these meetings, Matthew Nidek from FFI was also able to be there. It was no great surprise that he proposed to his girlfriend Amy, in Adelaide, where he attended the Australia National Conference. She accepted!
Bob Walker, Rhys Morris and Graham Wigley, club members, were our band. They were really good, playing great dancing music. Thanks to them and to Rhys, who was MC. Rhys is Vice President and we are looking forward to him leading activities and preparing to take over from Lis.
It was a great evening, enjoyed by all those who came to celebrate with us.
There are more photos on our face book site.
